For over 20 years, José Miguel has focused on resolving complex corporate matters, spanning across roles in the National Government, academia, and private practice. He was tasked with establishing the specialized court at the Superintendence of Corporations, where he served as a judge in numerous disputes among companies, shareholders, and administrators.
Subsequently, as Superintendent of Public Services, he spearheaded efforts to overhaul state supervision of the energy and water sectors, as well as to address an energy crisis in the northern region of the country. José Miguel has been involved in crafting key corporate reforms in Colombia in recent years, including Law 1258 of 2008 on simplified stock companies and Bill No. 70 of 2015 on the regime of directors' liability. Additionally, he represented Colombia before the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.
